ironwoman359: fangirltothefullest: solar-citrus: I was helping a friend out earlier but then realized I could also share a few small tips on how to shop for groceries on a budget with u guys too! If I may add! Sometimes meat is really expensive but lentils are an amazing source of protein and can be very cheap! Eat them with a grain such as rice to make sure the proteins are unlocked and properly absorbed in the body. Also as a tip, putting salt in while the food is cooking is not always necessary, especially if you are using other spices to cook with and people tend to salt at the table (which can overdo it) so if you want to lessen the sodium content of the food for health reasons, let people salt at the table and forego the salt in the meal if you’re already seasoning with spices while cooking. This also saves you money if you use less and let each person choose whether they want salt or not. ^^my mother in law does that, she’s been doing it ever since she realized her husband ALWAYS salted at the table, regardless of how much salt she put in while cooking. Now she just saves everyone the sodium and doesn’t salt her food while she cooks it -- source link
