dinah-lance:CONNOR HAWKE, THE SON AND SUCCESSOR OF GREEN ARROW, IS FINALLY COMING OUT AS ASEXUAL.“Think of Me,” an eight-page story by the trio of Ro Stein, Ted Brandt, and letterer Frank Cvetkovic, stars Connor as he foils a villain’s nefarious mind control scheme, all while composing a coming-out letter to his mother. Ever since the character was first created by Kelley Puckett and Jim Aparo back in 1994, fans have frequently interpreted Connor — a dedicated monk and martial arts expert — as asexual due to his supreme disinterest in any sexual contact and outright confusion at horny allosexual behavior.Though it was usually explained away by his upbringing in a monastery, Connor’s fans have known the score for decades, and after his return to DC’s main continuity last year, many have clamored for the company to finally make the subtext into text. Now, this all-ace creative team is making it happen.“It was that extra little bit of help, having the entire team be asexual,” Brandt told Them over a video call, sitting alongside Stein to discuss the project. “It really felt like it was a personal story for all of us on some level.” Stein and Brandt previously worked on last year’s DC Pride anthology as well, and are quick to heap praise on editor Andrea Shea, who they say pitched them the concept and served as its “tireless champion” at every stage. “She wanted to make sure that the ace community felt that there was something for them,” said Brandt. -- source link
