July is a typical “holiday month” in Finland, when most workers go on long vacation. Finnish employees are entitled to around 24-30 days of paid vacation per year (depending on how long they have been working) and most people prefer to use the majority of these vacation days during summer. The most popular time to start the summer holiday is Midsummer’s Eve, which is often regarded by many as the “beginning of the summer”.Although Finnish people like travelling abroad as well, one of the most popular forms to spend the summer holiday for many Finns is actually going to their waterside summer cottages (”mökki”), where they can relax, swim and go to the sauna. Sounds like quite a plan, doesn’t it? ;) -- source link
