There are so many things you haven’t done. And so many things you will never get to do. You will never get those milestones you think you’ve missed, or enjoy those memories you weren’t able to partake in while the world kept spinning on without you. You will never be as young as you once were, and now that your back hurts in the morning, you will probably wish you’d experienced more when you were still able. But you have to let go of your unlived life eventually. There is still so much you haven’t seen. The world is so much bigger than you think. I cannot promise that you’ll always enjoy it, or that you’ll always be happy with the cards you’ve been dealt. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t try. Freedom isn’t about getting what you want - it’s about being able to choose for yourself what kind of place you belong in, what kind of people you want to be surrounded by, what kind of weapon you use against hardships, and whether or not you choose to forgive yourself for your past mistakes. And perhaps, one day, when you have learned how to live again, you’ll be the one to teach someone else what it means to feel truly free.
