Month Of Halloween: October 9thPrevious posts: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8Staving Off Seasonal Affective DisorderWhile so many of us love the change of the season and all it brings, let us not forget our friends who have it tough this time of year. This post is for you! I’ve created a little business card design for you to carry on your person. Simply download the PDF here and print both sides out, then stick them together back to back. If you don’t want to print the graphic out, you can easily draw the sigil on a piece of paper and just use that!Side One:Side one shows a sigil created by me, drawn from a sentence written out in my witchy script, the elementarium. The sentence reads “I am not drained by the change of the season.” In both the latin and the elementarium alphabet. Simply charge it before you go out in the morning and stick it in your pocket or wallet. Grasp it whenever you need a reminder. Side Two:Side two is for you to add your own affirmations, thoughts, feelings and realisations. What is Seasonal Affective Disorder?Because I am not a health professional and there is no point in me rewording something that is already written clearly, here is a short summary of the Disorder from the NHS website.“Seasonal affective disorder (SAD) is a type of depression that comes and goes in a seasonal pattern. SAD is sometimes known as “winter depression” because the symptoms are more apparent and tend to be more severe during the winter. The symptoms often begin in the autumn as the days start getting shorter. They’re typically most severe during December, January and February. SAD often improves and disappears in the spring and summer, although it may return each autumn and winter in a repetitive pattern.Symptoms of SAD:a persistent low mooda loss of pleasure or interest in normal everyday activitiesirritabilityfeelings of despair, guilt and worthlessnessfeeling lethargic (lacking in energy) and sleepy during the daysleeping for longer than normal and finding it hard to get up in the morningcraving carbohydrates and gaining weightFor some people, these symptoms can be severe and have a significant impact on their day-to-day activities.”If your symptoms develop into something you begin to feel is unmanageable by yourself, please do not hesitate to reach out to friends, family and doctors. This is intended as an aid to treatment, not a replacement for it. -- source link
