When I think about all that women have done in the past that has moved us toward equality and liberation, I think about how I can make my own contribution. This often leaves me feeling hopeless. What those women needed to do seemed so obvious to them: to fight for the vote, to fight for equal pay, to fight for abortion access, to fight for a place for women in this patriarchal world. But I can’t find that obvious thing to fight for. Every where I turn I see inequality, corruption, and greed. How can you choose? What can I do, to make my own mark and move the world towards a better future.How can we tackle all that is wrong in the world? It has become so much worse as globalization and ecological destruction have spread to terrifying degrees. Fighting within this system, within this ideology, and within the same spaces as women did before us is no longer an option. Liberal feminism has become almost as much an enemy to the feminist cause as patriarchal dominance. We need a new world, a new system, and not just fit ourselves more comfortably in a patriarchal, capitalist structure built upon inequality, corruption, destruction, and greed. We need to come together and fight for radical change that dismantles hierarchical power structures and focuses on equality, caring for one another, caring for the Earth, and working together. -- source link
