Top: normally, trying to attack Klaptraps or Klaptrap-like enemies in the first three Donkey Kong Country games on the SNES from the front results in the player character being hurt by the enemy’s snapping jaws, seen here with a Krimp enemy in Donkey Kong Country 3.Bottom: however, in Donkey Kong Country 3 specifically, a glitch allows Krimps to be defeated with an attack from the front. The code only checks what direction the D-Pad is pressed when the player character attacks the Krimp; if it is pressed in the opposite direction of the Krimp’s movement, the game assumes the player is moving into the Krimp’s jaws, and hurts the character. However, if the D-Pad is briefly held in the same direction the Krimp is moving when the player collides with it, the game will erroneously assume the player was moving in the same direction as the Krimp, and must have thus attacked it from behind, even though that is not the case. This kills the Krimp.Main Blog | Twitter | Patreon | Source: twitter.com user “TheStaticCling” -- source link
