Igor Sikorski - bronze medal for Poland at the Paralympic Games in PyeongChang 2018.This is the first medal won for Poland this Paralympic Games. On March 14th Igor Sikorski, who practices alpine skiing on monoski, came third in Men’s Giant Slalom, with time 1:08.69. He was outrun by Jesper Pedersen from Norway (gold) and Tyler Walker from USA (silver). His reaction to winning the medal was mostly relief, since everyone were counting on him. After all, last year he won silver medal at World Championships in Tarvisio. Igor became disabled in 2007 at the age 17, after he fell from height and broke his spine. He has always loved sport, so he’d seek a way to continue it, and thus found himself at monoskiing training. He became Polish Champion in alpine para-skiing in 2012, and was 13th at the Paralympic Games in Sochi 2014.He also practices waterboard skiing (making extreme tricks on it) and bicykle racing, to keep up form, when there’s no snow in Poland. Now the medal gurantees him a sport’s scholarship, which is his main income. And he has the moral support of his family, friends, and girlfriend. Here’s his page. -- source link
