fyeahwomenartists:Eva Hesse Metronomic Irregularity I, 1966.Tension: to communicate, to obfuscate, the interrelation between these, modes of communication designed for this very purpose, which have reification built into there very mechanisms, their logic is at one with, or rather IS the logic of specular technologies. But their are certain entanglements, certain irregularities, certain glitches or linkages which are produced despite this determinant logic. That is at heart the task of the artwork or rather what the Artwork does, unable to escape commodification (for this is impossible) it perpetuates a certain mutation, a mutation which is a Truth that cannot be contained, plotted or re-incorporated. It is these moments (and one cannot hesitate but to insist that these moments are incredibly rare, that the majority of work today is mere puffery or wankery) which Hesse is especially sensitive to, moments that make the practice of artistic production in a thoroughly compromised society a worthy form of Praxis. -- source link
