Sestertius of the notorious Roman emperor Commodus (r. 180-192 CE), issued to celebrate the quelling of a rebellion in Britain in 184 CE. On the obverse, the head of Commodus, wearing a laurel wreath, with a list of his titles including the newly acquired BRIT(ANNICUS on the reverse, the goddess Victoria seated on a pile of shields and inscribing another shield, with the inscription VICT(A) BRIT(ANNIA) (”Britain Subdued”) below.
