This is one of the unhealthiest things I’ve seen in a while. A guy - or anyone else - who refuses to let you walk away from them is not being romantic. They are not being cute. They are being controlling and abusive. They want to keep you trapped in the relationship, having the same fights over and over again, and the best way to do that is to just forbid you from walking away. If you’re young, or new to relationships, it’s easy to see this kind of thing as romantic. It’s all written all over our depictions of romance in movies and television - the romantic hero is the guy who dangles himself off a Ferris wheel, or runs out onto your airplane’s tarmac, or shows up at your house with a boombox when you won’t answer his calls. And that works in the movies, because we can all plainly see that the female heroine was forced to break up with him, and has been secretly pining for him all along. But in reality, breaking up with someone and having them turn up at your house saying “you’re mine” is one of the scariest experiences of your life. So you know what I find really attractive? A guy who gives me space when I ask for it. A guy who respects me enough to leave me alone when I request it. A guy who knows how to take “no” for an answer. -- source link
