They run a bookstore and small memory preservation service that caters to long living/immortal beings. Even people with regular human lifespans can aquire Too Many Books, so for some immortals it becomes a big problem because they don’t want to just throw them out . Kitty and Rena either buy these books for resale, store them with the conceit that they be available to the public for reference, or make copies of really rare/dangerous ones and put the originals somewhere safe. They also have a few clients who use their aforementioned memory preservation services where they store and catalogue journals and items important to the individual with pertinent context about the world when they owned it and the object’s history. it’s half a collection of deeply personal memorials for people who live several lifetimes to visit and remember who they used to be and half anthropology study.It’s a very serious business for two not so serious ladies but they’re good at their jobs and they haven’t lost a memory or let an ancient tome devour the soul of a mortal yet, which is more than you can say for some book stores. -- source link
