ladyyatexel:i’ve fallen and i skant get upAfter I reblogged a skant or five, I had the idea of pretending those had caught on and doing some based on the DS9 uniforms. This was apparently so exciting, two or three people excited about skants followed me? So HI, here is that thing you came for!Of course Julian would be my first subject, right? So, no, it’s not the whole cast yet, though to be fair, I only intended to do Bashir and O’Brien.  I started on O’Brien too, but I can’t settle on a design~  I just got so modification happy, I thought I should stop and post the Bashir fashion parade before people wondered what happened to me. Got to say, though, this is a really challenging shape to work with.  It took me just drawing the structure of Bashir’s body OVER the one with clothing on him so that I was sure he was still man-shaped underneath, because wow, does this sort of silhouette have strong associations in my mind.  This is sort of a fun exercise, and it’s one of the reasons I want to do Miles too. Since the original idea of these was for them to be a logical extension of men’s clothing in a few hundred years, I didn’t want either of them to be standing there looking really uncomfortable or out of place, like they thought this was girl’s clothing.  So I only got to Bashir for now, but I do plan for the image to be him and O’Brien.  (I thought of doing Dax too, but really, there’s nothing amazing about seeing a woman in a dress-shape. It would be neat to re-do the whole cast in this, and I might still, but in order to give myself a reasonable goal, just Bashir and O’Brien for now.) -- source link
