This was a commission by my almost-in-laws for a charity they run towards environmental and health education in Haiti, Fraternite Valleenne. I couldn’t find the original artist (lmk if you can!), but I was given a many-times-copied image to reproduce at decent scale for their annual benefit gala, with title and captions. I was instructed to make the lower right vignette look brown because actually livestock will kill all your saplings. I also edited to show people actually planting trees and someone harvesting dead rather than live branches. There’s a lot of invention here. It was a REALLY bad copy. This was fun, and I would love to do more environmental and educational illustration. Deforestation had been particularly critical in Haiti, but planting for the future and to offset carbon consumption is important everywhere. -- source link
