Valentine’s Day is a moment to celebrate a lot of different kinds of love. Romantic love, neighborly love, friendship, love of art… On February 14th, Brooklyn Afternoons will gather people from our community that experience memory loss and their care communities. Together, we will practice many kinds of love. Along with an Access Educator, groups will practice listening to one another, considering works of art from many perspectives, and expressing opinions in a safe, inclusive environment. Brooklyn Afternoons is a program of the Access Programs at the Brooklyn Museum, which holds the radical notion that cultural institutions must accommodate all visitors, including those with disabilities. In keeping with this radical notion, we’ll be exploring the color blue on Valentine’s Day.
