My heart is heavy for the Asian community today. The despicable violence yesterday, the year-long increase in attacks against Asian folks, and the long-standing discrimination against the Asian community (which has gotten brushed aside time + time again) is reflective of a much larger issue. When we recognize how deeply entrenched white supremacy is within our society we begin to make connections between so many different forms + acts of hatred. Ignorance does not exist in a vacuum, which is why we must stand in solidarity with one another to fight oppressive systems at play. I stand in solidarity with the AAPI community and will continue to call out hatred + bigotry as it arises.
