The idea that women should be shielded from hearing the details of criminal cases, particularly those involving sex offenses. Women would be too sympathetic to persons accused of crimes Keeping male and female jurors together during long trials was thought to be injurious to women.This varied by state, Utah for example, was the first state to allow women serve jury duty in 1898. By 1927, only 19 states allowed women to serve jury duty. ⚖️In late 1961, the Supreme Court unanimously UPHELD a Florida law that exempted women from serving on juries.
