gregorygalloway:Elvis Costello’s 13th studio album was released on 14 May 1991.A self-described “angry” record, Mighty Like a Rose has also been called Costello’s “strangest” album, with a wide variety of song styles (including 2 songs co-written with Paul McCartney) and deliberately “messy” production.Costello wanted to release the album under his given name, Declan MacManus, but the label refused.Might Like a Rose peaked at #5 in the UK, but only reached #55 in the US.Costello would not release another “rock” record for 3 years, working with composer Richard Harvey on the G.B.H. tv soundtrack (1991) and with the Brodsky Quartet on The Juliet Letters (1993). -- source link
