counterpunches:It was super cheesy with the blocking especially but I really liked the sentiment of the last episode’s big fight scene resolution. I felt like the story needed that before they went into the mind control episode; the people needed to forgive Kara BEFORE she saved everyone again because of what they are setting up for the finale. If you look at what they’re building up, they’re slowly stripping away Kara of her allies: first Astra, then Alex and J’onn, now presumably all her human friends (Winn, James, Lucy, the entire DEO– except Max and Cat going by the promo pics, which I am assuming at some point she’s gonna lose that help as well). It’s sort of fascinating because we’ve spent the entire season establishing that ‘Stronger Together’ is what makes Kara different from other superheroes. There’s very little pretense of her secret identity within her circle of trust because she literally tells everyone important to her (Cat threatened that by trying to fire her and take away her normal life, so that complicated matters). Even with Max Lord and the whole enemy of my enemy thing, Kara has proven to be able to work with others. She has a support network that she relies on and they are all better off because of it.So this thing that they’re building up in the finale with mind control and Myriad is interesting to to see, because if they do it right, they could really send a strong message about who Kara is as the sum of all her experiences. If they can pull it off, it would be a nice message to say that the people we care about and love, in all the different way that we love, inform our behavior. We carry them with us, even when they are not present. Even when they are not physically (or mentally in the case of Myriad) here, our relationships with them and the faith we have in each other make us stronger, better, faster, and ultimately worthy of the cape. From Kara’s parents to Astra to Alex and J’onn to Winn and James and Lucy to Cat and the very people of National City, they all believe in Kara as the hero she’s always been. Kara’s speech about the light in everyone and how much she loves that and it gives her strength? Is exactly why she needed to have this moment going into the finale, because she is going to need that if she’s going to go into the battle alone.Stronger together means not just physical but emotional support. It’s our collective belief in helping each other find our better angels, and that is the core of the show. That we help each other bring out the hero we all have inside– and that’s what I hope they are building towards, that’s what I hope they pull off.#this show can be super cheesy and imperfect when it comes to ships#but the way they treat kara’s anger and her struggle to be the best kind of hero she can be by rooting it in her relationships with others#is just so fucking beautiful and i hope that is the real centerpiece of the story for the finale - @dealanexmachina -- source link
