HAPPY 6th BIRTHDAY THING!!!! six years ago we were walking home from the subway in the snow. it was dark and we saw what we first thought was a rat….and then realized was a tiny kitten alone darting into a snow bank. With the help of the bodega owner on the corner we caught him and brought him home assuming we would get him to the vet and find him a family……but immediately it was clear that he was ours. Thing was ~5 or 6 weeks old and very small. Charlotte immediately took to him and helped us raise him into a hilarious wild creature that he is. Thing is sweet when/if he wants to be and loves his dogs (Sirius gives him a drool bath before meals). Thing’s favorite activity is stealing food - especially carbs (he once attempted to make off with half a NYC pizza and stole a quarter of last year’s Thanksgiving pie crust) and sees big dogs as minions to do his bidding (he would often knock things down for Charlotte to open for him).
