icy-moons: heyimreese:gendernihilistanarchocommunist:Incredibly fucking crucial information for Americans where period tracking digitally is concerned: DELETE YOUR DATA, DELETE YOUR ACCOUNT AND DELETE YOUR APPS When zuck and co bought Flo, I switched to Clue, which has stated from day 1 that they have no intention of selling user data. Instead, they offer free and plus (paid) versions of the app to support the team. They don’t have adds, they don’t sell data.IF they were to change their tune, they would also have to change their data storage method for it to have any information about You, Personally, in a manner that is easily accessible. This screenshot is from the Data Privacy & Security page in the app. [Image description provided in alt text]While it’s best practice to believe that nothing is totally secure, this is probably the best option you have. Adding old data can be a bit of a pain, and I wouldn’t say it’s the best for seeing a visual track of your symptoms over time, but the privacy and security is worth it. Bonus: they are also trans friendly, the app is mostly white to avoid the pink dysphoria, they use gender neutral language, and have shared how you can track hormone injections (such as testosterone) using the app as well. If you need a method of tracking your cycle, birth control, sexual history, doctors visits, other medications, and have it easily accessible using something you tend to have on your person, I highly recommend Clue. Otherwise, there are a bunch of small notebooks on the market that you could probably stick to the back of your phone. For reference:What happens to your period tracking dataAlso, Clue is EU-based, which has strict and comprehensive laws re: data protection. Yeah, it’s always good practice to believe that nothing is totally secure, but based on initial scrubbing, I think Clue is the best alternative we’re gonna get. They collect data, but it’s for the purposes of scientific research – which Clue users do get access to. That’s miles better than data used for advertising or malicious government tracking. If you don’t want your data used in any capacity, then it’s probably not for you, but I think more research on menstrual cycles and reproductive health is pretty worthwhile.Clue also runs on a subscription model for making money, if you wonder how they’re keeping things running without selling data.So yeah, count this as another recommendation for Clue. -- source link
