smokestarrules: Actually, I feel like the emphasis given to “what will Luz’s palisman be” is kind of overshadowing what it’ll mean for her to have one as a whole. And like - when you get to thinking about it, this is a huge step for Luz. It’s already been brought up that she’s been unsure about carving one due to the commitment it implies - especially considering Luz’s anxieties about making her mother happy, but also… also…Take Hunter for example. He cannot do magic. He likely doesn’t have a bile sac, due to being a Grimwalker of a human, rather than a witch. Just like Luz. But Flapjack has magic, and Flapjack is Hunter’s palisman, and therefore Hunter can fight with magic because of Flapjack. Which means… Luz will be able to do the same thing; she will be able to wield magic without having to use a single glyph. Just like AzuraShe was able to hold her ground against both Lilith and Emperor Belos himself at a time where she had about half the glyphs she does now and very little experience. Now she’s going to be fighting again, with much more ammo, much more knowledge of the glyphs, and a palisman. She’s going to be at the top of her game. And then there’s the whole reason Luz has been dragging her feet on carving one in the first place; because having a palisman thoroughly connects her to the Boiling Isles, maybe even moreso than just her relationships with her friends and found-family there. But Camila will get to meet her palisman, because palismen stick to their carver, and I can’t help but feel like that’s going to be a reason Camila begins to understand Luz’s position here. -- source link
