*Repost from ukrainian volunteer Konstantin Dyakonenko*Dear friends!During our previous visit to 25th Airborne Brigade in Donetsk region, we’ve got a task to provide a solution of night video observation. Controlling outskirts of Donetsk is very dangerous and exhausting. High contrast thermal vision monocular overloads one eye as the other eye sees only darkness. You will feel your eye is blind even after few minutes of observation, but realize how to do this all over the night. In addition, of course to see further you must be higher, so observer becomes a good target for enemies. Therefore, the solution is to provide remote system of observation. In 20th century, militarizes used different kinds of periscopes and a simple “scout tube”. It has worked, but only at the daylight.Today we’ve managed to connect thermal vision monocular to compact TV by cable. It was a some kind of quest to find a correct adapter, but we did it. Now monocular can be installed somewhere high, at place with good view. Video signal is taken by cable to TV installed in safe place like trench or bunker. So soldiers can comfortably and safety observe night terrain. Yes, we know about monoculars with WiFi which can be simply connected to any tab or smartphone. But as these devices are more expensive, we can’t afford to install them in many places. Furthermore, WiFi signal is sensible for different factors, so not so stable as cable signal. This solution is relatively cheap – about 50000UAH.I hope very much we could gather funds for 5 such systems to get continuous observation of the part of front line, so about 250000UAH (about 7000 EURO).
