Spotlight on one of my all-time favorite #burlesque queens, @theperlenoire. Some know Perle from her show-stopping performances in #stripstriphooray since 2009. A force onstage and off, she is a multi-talented business woman. This is Perle in her own words. Hello, Beautiful Pearls! My name is Perle Noire, and I am the creative director and producer of the historic @thenoirepageant. After years of being erased and overlooked from burlesque history books, I decided to create my dynasty and celebrate my power. Burlesque Pageants have been around for decades, but there aren’t many Performers of Color who have been crowned or celebrated. I believe it’s time for a change. My mission is to promote glamour and to create opportunities for the POC burlesque community. I want to create a platform to help them become headliners, educators, and savvy entrepreneurs. I’m a proud burlesque queen who believes in protesting against ignorance and the limited celebration of people who look like me. I’ve made it my mission to showcase the beauty and opulence of brown skin. Glamour has many faces. Burlesque has many faces. History will not repeat itself. Please take a moment to help me celebrate my Royal Court, Queen Ambassador, and POC burlesque artists! My royal court: King of Burlesque @tredamarc dazzled the audience and honored black magic with his commitment to glamour, musicality, and uninhibited energy. Queen of Burlesque @cholamagnolia called on the ancestors and the Latin community celebrated their heritage, glamour, and a new beginning with her that night. Princess of Burlesque @kikilachanteuse is preserving the art of classic burlesque. Kiki has a powerful voice, and her tribute to her Creole heritage inspired us! Duchess of Burlesque @moscatoextatique made the crowd gasp upon their enchanting entrance. “The Them Fatale” – honored their tagline and mission. My Ambassador @crocodilelightning is a high-voltage temptress whose face tells a tale and whose gaze electrifies you.
