Azuli the winking lovebird. This was a pet commission I did recently (I only do pet birds- no cats or dogs). His owners gave me lots of photos and videos to work from to help capture his personality. Pet taxidermy is usually something I stay away from as it’s entirely it’s own art. We look at our pets constantly and therefore creating an accurate representation for a client can be nearly impossible. I try to explain to clients that taxidermy is a sculptural recreation of their pet and by no means is going to live up to the real thing. Having said that, I was happy with how Azuli turned out. The clients said he was always winking and requested this animated little pose. This was also his favorite perch. RIP, Azuli. -- source link
