i’ve had this mental concept since i played endwalker but i still kind of wished primal hydaelyn was something more like tattered and monstrous but gentle. because of her guilt, literally weighed down by the weight of all the wings she ‘took’ and impaled through the heart with her own sword (which she pulls out to fight you with). her ‘crown’ is meant to be evocative of a shattered ancient’s mask. and because this is final fantasy xiv if you wanted over the course of the trial fighting wol and co. would be the most fun and invigorating thing hydaelyn’d done in eons and would remind her of all the thrill of that time she fought you before and as the battle progresses she phase changes through increasingly unburdened forms until she’s the much lighter more buoyant original primal hydaelyn design as is in game and finally when she dies she dies that way -- source link
