Join us this Thursday for the opening of our newest special exhibition This Place. Organized by photographer Frédéric Brenner the project features Israel and Palestine as the subject for 12 internationally renowned photographers. Through an array of aesthetic viewpoints and over 600 photographs, the show creates not a monolithic, polarizing portrait of the region but rather an intricate, multilayered vision of the much contested place. We will be kicking off the exhibition with an artists discussion moderated by Jeff Rosenheim, Curator in Charge of the Department of Photographs at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and a panel of This Place artists, Frédéric Brenner, Rosalind Fox Solomon, and Thomas Struth. Together they will discuss their journey and stay in Israel and Palestine for the making of the project as well as their artistic strategies, interests, and the lessons they learned. The conversation will offer in-depth and personal examinations of the region by the artists to raise important questions and promote dialogue. We hope you too will join the conversation and continue to ask the difficult questions offered by the works in This Place. Join us for the opening celebration this Thursday at 7pm. Free tickets will be available at the Admissions Desk beginning at 6 pm. Join as a Member and attend the Members Preview and Reception happening the same evening! Those unable to attend the discussion can tune in live.Posted by Claire KissingerImage: Frédéric Brenner (French, b. 1959).
