I try not to think about the past too much anymore. I used to be consumed with it … reviewing, reviewing, always seeking deeper layers of understanding. Peeling it all back. Searching for answers. . . Why did I do that? Why did this happen? Why am I like this? What parts are trauma and what parts are me? . . It’s important work, you know, and many of us are in it. . . But at some point, you just have to stop. Stop looking at “them” and stop the analyzing and the dissection. . . Our perception and memory is so, so incredibly limited. Yes, there’s a sense of things and an intuitive knowledge… but that element always feels “obvious.” The analyzing is a function of the ego and is based on perception and memory, which is intangible and ever changing. . . Did you know if someone says something the right way they can implant false memories into your brain? It’s a huge problem in the world of police interrogations. . . Memory is plastic, malleable, changeable, and incredibly impressionable. So, maybe the trauma happened one way or another way… but trying to remember it won’t heal us. . . We can only see 0.0035% of the spectrum of light. There are layers on layers of the dimensions of this reality that are utterly undetectable to us. . . There is just so much more out there than our memories and experiences. . . I’m not saying that stuff doesn’t matter. But at some point we need to just drop the “story” and focus on where we are at and where we are going. . . We are never going to truly understand what happened or why. We will never find real answers that we are able to perceive. . . Humans are astoundingly feeble creatures. When I think about it, it makes me laugh that we take it all so seriously! Big, serious water bags cruising around and ruminating over things we are most likely remembering incorrectly. . . Humans are also a god damn miracle. You are a miracle. . . There’s more out there for you than the story and the trauma. Go live your life. (at Writing On Stone Provincial Park) https://www.instagram.com/p/BylwnfhAbXA/?igshid=13k1e53zi8geh -- source link
