While I’m devastated to say goodbye, knowing he’s no longer in pain brings a bittersweet tear to my eye. After a wonderful year, my Shadow has left his favorite window sill to find a better view a little closer to the stars. For those who don’t know, Shadow suffered from an auto-immune disease. His immune system attacked his teeth and the soft tissues in his mouth, making it impossible for him to even eat without a monthly cortisone shot to reduce the swelling and stop the bleeding. Originally, the doctors said that a surgery to remove his teeth would cure the problem. But over the last two months, his illness progressed so rapidly that his compromised condition would make the surgery impossible. In the end, surgery was not an option… Shadow Baby, my little Shadow Prince - I’m so happy that the world brought us together, and I’m so proud to have been the person you chose to spend your last year on earth with. I love you. -- source link
