kemetic-dreams: Rare and precious find: a spirit-woman of Burundi, from Bujumbura on the northern shore of lake Tanganyika, 1929. Badly-informed book calls her by the colonial name of “witch doctor,” and i can’t find an authentic Kirundi name for a medicine woman. It would probably be in the Kintu (Bantu-speaking) spectrum of “nganga.” Looks like she’s wearing strands of cowries around her neck and hips, feathered headdress.
