A dynamic planet, Venus’ environment maintains a relatively dry status across the surface. Most of the water sources consist of underground rivers and other large bodies of water found under the surface, but there are a few main rivers that have existed for thousands of years, carving their legacies into the rough bedrock that makes up a majority of the planet’s landmass. Around these rivers is a more tropical environment and these are the only green places on the planet. The further from these rivers you travel, the more dry and arid it gets. While there are a few cities in these arid environments, most of the civilization exists around these pre-existing rivers.Akhetaten: The capitol, Akhetaten is the city that never sleeps. Located on the shore of Lake Moeris and bordered to the east by the Nile River, Venus’ only year-round river and the longest river in the Solar System, Akhetaten experiences the only lush and tropical climate year round. Hosting some of the tallest skyscrapers in the galaxy, Akhetaten has everything a person could ever need, or even want, day or night. Akhetaten also houses the only organized religious temple on the planet. Several districts are found in the city as well, such as the fashion district, the red light district, and even entertainment district, among others. But the more central you travel inward towards Magellan Castle, the cleaner and safer the city becomes.Thonis: To the west of Akhetaten lies Thonis, the intergalactic city. Specializing in interstellar travel, Thonis is a major port city and a hotspot for trade, fuel, and various levels of crime. Anyone traveling through the core planets is sure to stop by in Thonis, whatever their reasons, although it’s mostly due to the poor customs enforcement. They say anything is legal on Venus, and if you’re traveling through the Milky Way, Thonis is the place to get your illegality taken care of.Pilak: While Venus is known more for its exotic nature and lenient laws, it still maintains a high military approval. Located in the middle of the Sahara Desert, the greatest desert on Venus uninterrupted by seasonal rivers or oases, Pilak is Venus’ military base. Housing the Military Academy as well as the formal base, Pilak is the only Venusian city with the ability to call itself crime-free. While the city is sandy and arid, the well-regimented Pilak is clean, safe, and the ideal place to live for the burgeoning Venusian family.Talmis: On a planet where nearly everything is legal, to call one city the most dangerous is quite the accomplishment. Known for sex, drugs, and rock ‘n roll, Talmis is the gambling center of Venus. Housing the galaxy’s largest casinos, pleasure houses, and drug market, Talmis also knows regular gang activity and is a large proponent in the black market. Found on the Siwa Oasis, Talmis is an isolated city, which keeps it out of government, and the military’s, hands. But while Talmis is a dangerous city, it can also be quite profitable for those who know how to play their cards. -- source link
