Self-Portrait, Lié Louis Périn , c. 1790s, Cleveland Museum of Art: European Painting and SculptureLié Louis Périn painted many self-portraits, but rarely ever at full scale. The son of a cloth manufacturer from Rheims, Périn left the countryside for Paris to pursue a career in miniature painting. Although he enjoyed a fast-growing reputation as a miniaturist among Parisian aristocracy, a full-scale self-portrait provided an opportunity to display his skills unhampered by the demands of a commissioned picture or painting in a miniature format.Size: Framed: 78 x 67 x 7 cm (30 11/16 x 26 3/8 x 2 ¾ in.); Unframed: 64.4 x 53.2 cm (25 3/8 x 20 15/16 in.)Medium: oil on canvashttps://clevelandart.org/art/1961.334 -- source link
