ab-kusoposting: Happy Pride Month to all my followers! As a fun change of pace, each Wednesday, I’ll be featuring a little-known canon LGBTQ+ Osamu Tezuka Star System character! This week’s canon LGBTQ+ character is Mitchy! She is quite possibly Tezuka’s first trans/NB character. Mitchy first debuted in Dr. Mars (1947), but they’re best known for her role of the same name in Metropolis (1949) as a genderfluid cyborg who can shift between masculine and feminine forms at the literal flip of a switch. The English version of Metropolis published by Dark Horse even switches Mitchy’s pronouns throughout the story!Mitchy had several roles through the Star System, but their other major role was as Atom’s mother in Tetsuwan Atom/Astro Boy. As Astro’s mother, her name is Rin, which is the Japanese word for phosphorous. -- source link
