arcadiainteriorana:The Interior of Westminster AbbeyUnknown Artist Oil on canvas, 122.2 x 97.8 cm, ca. 1714.Yale Center for British Art, Paul Mellon Collection. The Interior of Westminster Abbey, notwithstanding the information, very aptly documented above, is actually accepting that the creation of this work could be broader, such as in a period of 1709–1719. Because the art represented here is classified as ‘Perpendicular Gothic Art’, one needs to eventually broaden the scope of this by remembering that Perpendicular was the prevailing style of Late Gothic architecture in England from the 14th century to the 17th century, where it was unique to the country, as in no equivalent existed in Continental Europe, or elsewhere in the British Isles. On that art histoy appreciation, and also from a visual feel of the work, it very well may be a scholar’s objective to be furthered as one may come to discover this work to have been sketched, or drawn, and even become painted, very late in the 17th century. -- source link
