A fall hike - Mt. Pisgah, MAView from the South Overlook, towards the east. (From the northern overlook, it was possible to make out the tallest Boston skyscrapers 20 mi. to the east, and we had a clear enough day for it.) Dig the glacial striations on the exposed bedrock at the overlook!Fall color (one, two, three).Topographic map; we parked on the west side where the climb up was easier. The steep eastern side indicates why there are such good views to the east. Some shelf fungus and lichens. More fall color. Impossibly lush moss of some kind (see how deep the acorn at top right has sunk in!)Two roads diverged in a yellow wood… but fortunately we had a good trail map. (Trails were well-blazed and there were various spots where a good quality map was posted, but still, it was a bit of a maze of trails.) -- source link
