The aftermath of the Great Molasses Flood in Boston, 1919. A tank with 12,000 tons of molasses burst in the North End. The molasses spewed with such force that it traveled up to 35 mph and killed 21 people. Buildings were swept off of their foundations and parts of the city were 3 feet deep. It took weeks to clean up the sticky mess, and the harbor was discolored for months.{WHF} {HTE} {Medium} -- source link
