surviveschool: Anxious about your first day? Just remember: “I’ve done this before.” You can do it again. “I’m not alone.” Everybody is nervous, even if they don’t look like it. They probably aren’t paying attention to you or your outfit more than they’re paying attention to themselves. “I can turn over a new leaf.” This is your opportunity to get a new start. How exciting! “I am going to make it.” It’s only one day out of many. This is not a make-or-break moment. “I am capable.” You’ve already lived through your worst day. This won’t touch it. “I am in charge.” If you need to go to the bathroom to have a moment, you can go to the bathroom. If you need a drink of water so you can focus on some physical sensations, you can do that. “There is a place for me.” Statistically, it is likely that someone in your school is like you. And it’s even easier to find a physical place where you can be alone or be accepted (library corner, anyone?). “This all is temporary.” You will be going home in a few hours, and the next day will hopefully be better if your first day doesn’t go well. -- source link
