mapsontheweb:Words “moon” and “month” in different languagesIn Greek, Earth’s moon is also named Σελήνη (Selini) after the ancient Greek goddess of the moon. (Often written in english as Selene.) All or almost all derivative words referring to the moon come from the word Selini. For instance, the full moon is πανσέληνος (pansélinos). Φεγγάρι (Fengari) can be used for any moon, although it is also mostly used for earth’s moon. Fengari means “that which shines”. Moons of other planets are usually called δορυφόροι (thorifori), meaning satellites. -- source link
