Moon Man (2012) dir. Stephen Schesch + Sarah Clara Weber Moon Man (Der Mondmann) is an independent animated film based on the children’s novel of the same name by regarded Alsatian author Tomi Ungerer. The film was produced by the German production company Schesch Filmkreation along with Ireland’s Academy Award-nominated Cartoon Saloon. As of now, Moon Man is a relatively unknown, off-the-beaten-path film, although it was featured in the Tribeca Film Festival. The film’s English language dub features Michael McElhatton as ‘The President.’Moon Man tells the story of the ‘man on the moon’, who falls down to earth after latching on to a falling star, and his exploration of the new world. Earth has been completely conquered by ‘The President’, who sets his sights on the moon as his next conquest, and enlists the aid of a once well-known inventor and scientist Bunsen van der Dunkel, to build a rocket to get him there. Eventually, the Moon Man is captured by The President, and the world’s children are unable to sleep due to the absence of the Moon Man, who watched over them at night. Bunsen, who agreed to build the rocket without understanding The President’s true intentions, wakes to them, and works to save the Moon Man and return him to his home on the moon. With stunning imagery and a lovely score, which includes Louis Armstrong’s cover of Moon River, Moon Man is far from being a Disney film; the film flows slowly with a quiet atmosphere, and surprisingly, features an implied sex scene.Source (X) (X) (X) -- source link
