myancientworld:Vercingetorix, 82-46 BC.Vercingetorix the chieftain of the Arverni tribe, and came to power in 52 BC when he was proclaimed king, after defeating the Romans at the Battle of Gergovia. He made allies with many of the tribes of Gaul to lead a revolt against Caesar, known as the Battle of Alesia, which took place between September-October 52 BC. Although the Gauls had 80,000 men in Alesia, they were defeated by Caesar’s 60,000 men.
