somethinginreturn: rakesandhoes: tellherwittystories: rakesandhoes: I almost want to read this just so I can find out what time period it’s supposed to be in. I actually had a similar thought before I even read the caption seriously what is going on with this cover The hills are alive with the sound of 1776, of course John kept his time-traveling machine in the basement behind a false wall. After the terrible Automan War of 2137, he’d decided to take up a new life in the past. A simple life, with a pleasant wife and a couple of children. He’d purchased a few sets of shirts and pants from the “Olde Tyme Clothing” bin at his local consignment shop, packed his bags, and said goodbye to the smog-filled city of Nuevo York. ‘Jane’ had had enough of Prexil-Q-245. She’d hijacked a ship, set a course for a random, terraformed planet and grimly hoped the population had yet to invent direct-to-conscious-advertisement-streaming. She’d hid her ship in an abandoned barn in the woods. Against all odds, John and ‘Jane’ found each other during America’s Colonial years. It was love at first sight. The locals thought the two perfect for each other, with their strange manner of dressing and odd colloquialisms. The years went by and saw the birth of two children. John began to feel the pressure of his deepest secret, torn between wanting to tell his wife and keeping the peace. But his growing silence and brooding led ‘Jane’ to become more agitated herself. The once-joyful relationship started to fray and tempers were running high. Then one day little Tommy went to the basement in search of more jam for his morning toast and discovered a hidden button… Would the truth heal… or divide them? -- source link
