I love books and I love collecting them, specially when they are old and beautiful and keep forgotten knowledge. This particular one I bought it in a local antique book shop in Badalona, city of Barcelona, for around seventeen euros. It is called ‘’The Legend of the Plants’’, and was edited and printed in Barcelona in the 1890s. The seller had a whole collection of books of the same type, so I promised myself that everytime I visit my relatives there, I’d go to the shop and get more of these. The book has some pencil drawings and girl names in childlike calligraphy, most probably it belonged to the girls of the house. It talks about myths, uses and stories concerning plants from all over the world, rites, magical uses and common folk knowledge from India, Greece Rome, Spain…Adding various images to one same post disfigures my blog but I don’t care this time, I really wanted to share this treasure ;-) Also sorry for the image quality, I really hope to get a good camera soon.
