Breather hole An airplane window has 3 panes. The inner and outer ones are basically protective slabs. The middle one has a thin hole in it so that cabin pressure is equalized all through. Depending on how cold it gets outside and how humid the circulated air is inside, little droplets can freeze on the inside of the outer pane.
