Source: XToday, November 13, is the Epulum Jovis, a propitiatory ceremony on the Ides of November, during which a feast was offered to Jupiter, Juno, and Minerva , possibly at the Temple of Jupiter Capitolinus. The gods were formally invited, a statue of Jupiter was placed on the couch of honor, and busts of the goddesses were placed on chairs at each side. Food was served to the statues as if to honored guests. Special priests, called Epulones, were appointed to consume the deities’ portion of the feast.
