I was 8 years old the first time adults called me a “groomer.” Yes, a literal trans child. They thought there was something dangerous and sexual about my transness. They believed I would convince their kids to be trans or spread it like a disease. It was as absurd as it was wrong.Groomer discourse doesn’t just prevent kids from learning: it directly targets queer and trans children.
