angelswithlightsabers:seandotpolitics:Abortion Clinic Employee Shares How Some Pro-Life Women Act When They Come In As CustomersI am not surprised that anti-choice zealots would hypocritically obtain abortions, but I am thoroughly fucking shocked that they wouldn’t even attempt to hide their anti-choice views when doing so. Actually, I think this shows how horrible our culture is to pregnant women. The pro-choice side won’t offer any alternatives besides abortion, and no help is given to pregnant women and mothers, so women feel they have no choice besides abortion, even if they don’t want it and think it’s wrong. This doesn’t make pro-lifers horrible, this is a failure of society. Obviously they shouldn’t be saying those things, but they are grieving and traumatized and racked with guilt. They feel that way because we have failed them. It’s not the pro-life side that lacks empathy here. The pro life side are the ones campaigning for support for children and parents, for sex education, for free contraceptives, for affordable healthcare, all of which are things that would prevent unwanted pregnancies or help people who wanted a baby but were struggling financially. I have never seen pro life people swinging for those fences, and I see pro choice people swinging for them all the time, energetically. This idea that pro choice only offers abortion and gives no other options is utter bullshit. It is overwhelmingly progressives who campaign for the things that would actually lower abortion rates, either by helping parents who want a child to afford that child, or helping to prevent pregnancies in the first place. You want to talk about lack of compassion (or common sense or basic science), then you can go to the people who think abstinence only is sex education, who slut shame people for taking the Pill, or who try and cut aid programs for people who are struggling. ‘Cause the people who are doing that? Are not progressives. -- source link
