Yesterday was International People with Disabilities Day. I missed it (classic) because I’m disabled and still trying to get money to pay the bills from October and November which has pulled me away from just about everything as of late. I wish I could be more present with people right now but it’s overwhelming. I’m grateful for the relative financial privilege I do have, but holy shit. My heart goes out to all who are scrambling 24/7 to keep going physically, emotionally, and financially. The people who are houseless or forced to remain in a house with an abuser in order to avoid becoming houseless. I so appreciate your struggle and hard work to keep your amazing selves alive. I do not take you for granted and I’m sorry that so many people treat us as such. In truth, we are medicine and have so much to offer just by being who we are. I know it, you know it, hopefully someday everyone else will know it. Reminders even to ourselves are vital in a world like this constantly communicating the opposite.
