italianartsociety: By Anne Leader Happy Birthday Renzo Piano! The world-renowned architect was born on 14 September 1937 in Genoa. After training with his father and the architect Franco Albini and completing studies at the Politecnico di Milano (1964), Piano worked with Philadelphia-based Louis Kahn and London-based Z.S. Makowsky. His Centre Georges Pompidou (1971–7, Paris ) brought him international fame, and he has designed many museum spaces since then, including the De Menil Collection in Houston, the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas, and expansion projects for the High Museum in Atlanta and Kimbell in Fort Worth. Piano won the Pritzker Prize in 1998. His design workshop has numerous ongoing projects including several university campus plans, art centers, and office buildings.
