The rest usually get catapulted back into space by Jupiter’s immense gravity. It’s quite amazing just how many things are keeping Earth alive and the way it is.THANK U VERY MUCH JUPITERJupiter ‘shepherds’ the asteroid belt for usWhile it’s true that a 1994 study showed that replacing Jupiter with a smaller planet like Uranus or Neptune would lead to 1000 times as many long period comets hitting Earth, a more recent study by Jonathon Horner and Barrie Jones of Open University in Milton Keynes, UK showed that if there were no planet in Jupiter’s orbit Earth would actually be safer from impacts. So Jupiter is actually a bit of a mixed blessing. -- source link
