Eight years ago, the book accompanied me during the waiting time for in-between shows presentation blog coverage during Jakarta Fashion Week at Ak’sa’ra Pacific Place. That’s the moment when I was introduced to the world of Ferragamo, Louboutin, Choo, Blahnik, Zanotti. I remember a line from my favorite tv show character, Carrie Bradshaw “When one door closes, a shoe box open.” Today, I open a shoe box filled with a pair of classic icon, and I feel so lucky since it is the last pair for 2020 and it fits my size perfectly. Back in 1957, with a special attention to detail, Gabrielle Chanel designed the two-toned shoes in beige, to elongate their shape, and black, to shorten the foot and protect the toe from long-term wear. Karl Lagerfeld launched the @chanel ballerinas in 1984. Inspired by the world of dance so dear to Gabrielle Chanel – who advocated comfort and freedom of movement above all else – the ballerina is today a fundamental in Chanel’s stylistic grammar.
